I’m a HUGE fan of found family, a group of people just deeply caring about each other, (mostly) no romance, just very I’ll-die-for-you close friendships. While found families will always be my number one favorite kind of relationship of all the possible ones, I also very much love sibling dynamics. One is very much related […]
You know the type: strong (headed/willed), capable female characters who get shit done, but are kind of assholes about it, or are they? Men often like to call them “Mary Sue” and “unlikeable”, I like to call them “bitch queens”. It’s no secret that while we have a massive amount of male characters of the same kind who are loved by everyone, the number of characters of other genders is still way too small and where they do appear, they get hated on by too many people. Misogyny is still going strong.
If you know me, you know that I LOVE series. I don’t handle falling in love with characters and fictional worlds, only to be done with them after only one book very well haha. I do occasionally enjoy a good standalone though. Some stories are hella amazing *because* they are standalones, some really only work […]
I know publishing has its very own schedule/calendar, but not publishing LOTS of queer books during June AKA pride month seems like a missed opportunity. June still comes with a decent amount of queer SFF releases that I’m very excited about. It’s somewhat of a short list compared to other months though. Make sure […]
May is Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage Month and the book community is once again taking part in these celebrations by hosting readathons and generally encouraging everyone to read mostly/more books by Asian authors during the month of May.
May has a wide variety of queer books to offer in both fantasy and science fiction, from murder over giant robots to KNIGHTS ON MOTORBIKES. Yes, you read that right. This is a truly wild month and I’m extremely excited about every single one of these books.
While March was a bit of a sad month for queer releases (at least compared to other months in 2021 so far), April is back at it again with a long list of amazing books. We’re once again getting our fair share of sapphic releases but also trans and non-binary rep, as well as some queer men, who always come a bit short. I’m especially happy about the two stories featuring polyamorous relationships.
If you thought the list of queer January 2021 releases was long, better prepare yourself for February, because we get even more queer releases! So many, I have no idea how/when to read them all. We’re truly blessed right now with lots of amazing queer stories, some debuts, some scifi, some fantasy, many of them […]
